If you’re down about how the 2021 season has unfolded for the Minnesota Twins, be thankful you’re not a Baltimore Orioles fan. With the Twins’ 3-1 win on Monday afternoon, Minnesota claimed their 16th straight win over the Orioles behind a dominating performance from José Berrios.
After the Twins handed him an early lead in the third inning, Berríos had one of his best outings of the season. The right-hander went eight innings and struck out six on the afternoon but allowed a sixth-inning home run to Ryan Mountcastle to tie the game at 1-1.
While Berríos was doing his part, so was Baltimore starter Jorge Lopez. After a strong start against the Twins last Wednesday, Lopez delivered an encore, allowing one run over six innings and striking out seven.
With pitching dominating the afternoon, the game went to extra innings tied at 1-1. After Rob Refsnyder scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch, Jorge Polanco gave the Twins a 3-1 lead with a solo home run.

But the Twins bullpen is always an adventure and Hansel Robles stayed on brand allowing an RBI double to DJ Stewart to make it a 3-1 game. With the tying run advancing to third on a wild pitch, Robles rebounded to strike out Austin Wynns and get Freddy Galvis to fly out to preserve the victory.
The Twins (22-31) will look for another victory against the Orioles on Tuesday night in Baltimore.
