Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has been cleared to participate in practice Thursday. He missed the Bears’ 32-7 loss to the 49ers on Monday night. Even though he can practice, it’s still not a sure thing that he starts Sunday against the Vikings.
Chicago head coach Lovie Smith says “things are looking good, but we just don’t know.”
Whether it’s Cutler or backup Jason Campbell at quarterback, the Bears need to do a better job of protecting their signal callers. The Bears have allowed the second most sacks in the NFL. The only team that’s allowed more is the Green Bay Packers.
