Minnesota Twins fans will be able to indulge in Mexican food from a favorite local restaurant this season. Barrio has announced it will be providing service at the Twins’ home, Target Field, beginning on April 13, which is Opening Day.
Barrio is taking over a spot in left field just inside Gate 6, below the Budweiser Roof Deck, the team announced Tuesday. The space used to be occupied by a merchandise shop.
Crews are busy transforming the location into a bar and restaurant that will feature Latin cuisine and an extensive selection of tequila, which are trademarks at Barrio’s other four Twin Cities locations.
“We couldn’t be more excited to add our flavor to the experience at Target Field,” said Barrio Restaurant Group president Ryan Burnet in the news release.
$2 drinks (on Thursday nights only)
The Twins also announced a new promotion this year, evidently an effort to get more fans to the ballpark for Thursday night games – $2 drinks and appetizer specials from 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. at Barrio and three other restaurants in the ballpark.
Normally, drink prices are several times higher than that.
As the Star Tribune notes, however, the Twins play only five Thursday evening home games all season, so you won’t have too many opportunities to drink on the cheap at the ballpark.
