Wild goalie Niklas Backstrom underwent surgery today to repair a sports hernia.
The injury knocked him out of the playoff series against Chicago, happening in pregame warm-ups before Game 1.
Today’s procedure was successful, according to the Wild, with Backstrom expected to make a full recovery.
Backstrom, 35, is an unrestricted free agent this offseason. Both sides, according to Fox Sports North, have said they’re open to a return for the 2013-14 season.
