Gopher men’s basketball senior guard Austin Hollins has been named Big Ten player of the week, the conference announced Monday.
It’s a first for him, according to the Daily Gopher. He osted his third double-double of the season with a game-high 20 points and career-high 14 rebounds in the Golden Gophers’ win over South Dakota State.
The Germantown, Tenn., native led the Golden Gophers (9-2) to a 75-59 victory over South Dakota State on Tuesday night, and also notched his 1,000th point as a Gopher, making him the 39th member of the Gophers’ 1,000-point club, according to GopherSports.com.
The last Gopher to earn the honor was Trevor Mbakwe in March of last season.
