Anthony Richardson, the star-studded quarterback from Florida, was taken fourth overall by the Indianapolis Colts in the first round of the NFL Draft Thursday night.
Richardson had been mocked to the Vikings by numerous insiders, including Peter King and Mel Kiper Jr., before the draft began. But after quarterback Bryce Young went No. 1 to Carolina and then Houston took quarterback C.J. Stroud before trading up to No. 3 to get edge rusher Will Anderson.
That leaves the Vikings with two quarterbacks who are considered by most to be first-round caliber: Kentucky’s Will Levis and Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker.
Minnesota owns the No. 23 pick in the first round. The question, and only if the Vikings like either quarterback, is whether the Vikings will stay put and hope one of them falls, or they trade up to get their guy.
We’ll have more draft coverage to come. Meanwhile, watch the livestream feature Purple Insider’s Matthew Coller.
