Assistant coaches Matt Limegrover and Jim Zebrowski being fired by Gophers head coach Tracy Claeys on Sunday didn’t sit well with one of Minnesota’s top football recruits in the Class of 2016.
Sean Foster, a first team All-State offensive lineman in Illinois, announced Tuesday morning that he is withdrawing his commitment to the Gophers.

Foster is a 6-foot-8, 296-pound offensive tackle and he’s a four-star recruit, according to Scout.com. Scout ranks him the 19th-best tackle in the country.
Claeys fired Limegrover and Zebrowski one day after Minnesota lost for an 11th consecutive year to the Wisconsin Badgers, thus putting a bow on a 5-7 season with just two victories in the Big Ten.
According to Rivals, Limegrover was the lead recruiter on Foster.
The Pioneer Press notes that Foster is the second verbal commit to re-open his recruitment since Claeys fired Limegrover and Zebrowski.
There’s no indication that Foster’s decision to withdraw his commitment will be followed with others. When former head coach Jerry Kill retired midway through the season, a pair of Minnesota’s top in-state recruits, Carter Coughlin of Eden Prairie and Conner Olson of Monticello, immediately tweeted that they committed to the entire coaching staff, not just Kill.

Coughlin is the only remaining four-star recruit in Minnesota’s 2016 class, per Rivals, although wide receiver Dredrick Snelson is a four-star recruit via other outlets.
