Gophers basketball coach Richard Pitino is the latest University of Minnesota coach to get a reminder of how difficult it is to close the borders in the college recruiting world.
Jericho Sims, a four-star forward from Cristo Rey Jesuit school in Minneapolis, verbally committed to play for Texas on Monday night.
The 6-foot-9 forward told Scout.com that he feels “like I fit in the most there and not just with the players, but the coaches and the assistant coaches.” He took an official visit to Texas last weekend.
Head coach Shaka Smart, who turned Virginia Commonwealth into a tournament regular, was leading the Longhorns’ recruitment at Texas.
No. 67 Jericho Sims has committed to Texas, source told ESPN. Second ESPN 100 commitment in 2017 for Shaka Smart. https://t.co/0doNeJ8Nl7
