The NBA might want to take notice if Andrew Wiggins truly has improved every element of his game.
Wiggins and the Wolves began training camp this week, and the 20-year-old reigning NBA Rookie of the Year says he’s ready to take the next step.
“I believe so,” he said, according to the Pioneer Press. “I’ve been working hard this summer, mentally, physically and just trying to evolve my game. I believe I’m better than everything I did last year.”
Wiggins seems to be in control of his destiny, but DIME Magazine has an article saying Wiggins’ future should be considered just as bright as New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis.
“There is still so much room for him to grow. His jump shot is going to get better, his handles will improve and he’ll learn the intricacies of rotations in a contemporary NBA defense. The sky is the limit for him, but given how quickly he exceeded expectations in his rookie year, he might just reach the sky and decide to keep on going.”
Leadership traits are also starting to come out of Wiggins. With Karl-Anthony Towns, the No. 1 pick in the draft, using Kevin Garnett as his main mentor, Wiggins won’t have all the pressure on him to help show the rookie the light, but he does plan on using his experience as a rookie last season to help Towns adjust to the 82-game grind.
”I feel like I went through my ups and downs last year,” Wiggins said, via the AP. ”I learned a lot. I was patient with whatever happened to me and my growth last year. I’m sure I’ll be able to share my experience, my wisdom and all my knowledge that I gained last year with him.”
