Former Timberwolves star Al Jefferson came back to bite his old team Friday night as the Charlotte Bobcats rolled over the Timberwolves 105-93 at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte.
The Associated Press says Jefferson had 25 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Bobcats, marking the team’s eighth straight home victory. Jefferson’s 20th 20-point, 10-rebound game also set a franchise record for the Bobcats.
Kevin Martin scored 19 points to lead the Wolves. Kevin Love was next with 18 points, and led the Wolves with six rebounds. The Charlotte Observer says the Bobcats held Love scoreless in the second half.
The game was tight in the beginning with a 33-33 tie at the end of the first quarter, before a surge by the Bobcats in the second gave the home team a 65-53 lead at halftime. The AP says the Bobcats led by as many as 18 in second half, and the Wolves were unable to pull within 10 during the third and fourth quarters.
Charlotte improved to 32-34 with the win, while the Wolves fell to 32-32.
The Wolves return to Target Center Sunday night to take on the Sacramento Kings at 6 p.m.
