Karl-Anthony Towns posted an emotional video tribute on Mother’s Day to honor his mother, Jacqueline Towns, who died in April from complications of COVID-19.
The tribute, shared to Instagram, included photos and video of his mother and featured “A Song For Mama” by Boyz II Men. Jacqueline Towns died April 13, approximately three weeks after the Timberwolves star announced that her illness rapidly worsened to the point that she was on a ventilator and in a coma.

“They said that she went sideways and things had went sideways quick,” Towns said Mar. 24. “And her lungs were extremely getting worse, and she was having trouble breathing and they were just explaining to me that she had to be put on a ventilator.”
On his Instagram story, Towns also shared an image of text message his mother sent to on Christmas Day.
“My son, it seemed like I closed my eyes for just a moment and suddenly a man stood where a boy used to be. I [may] not carry you in my arms anymore but I always carry you in my heart. You are the sweetest present life has ever given me,” his mother wrote.
Towns wrote in the story: “Mom, miss you so much.”
