NFL Most Valuable Player Adrian Peterson won yet another honor Saturday following his miracle comeback season, The Associated Press reports.
Peterson was named by NFL 101 as the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Year. The NFL 101 Awards are handed out by the Kansas City, Mo.-based civic organization The Committee of 101, which annually honors outstanding achievements in pro football.
Each year, 101 members of the national media select the top honorees on offense and defense, as well as coaching, for the NFC and AFC.
Joining Peterson as this year’s NFC honorees are Aldon Smith of the San Francisco, who was named Defensive Player of the Year; and Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, who won for Coach of the Year.
On the AFC side, Peyton Manning of the Denver Broncos was named Offensive Player of the Year, while Houston’s J.J. Watt was tapped as Defensive Player of the Year. Indianapolis head coach Chuck Pagano and his substitute, Bruce Arians, were named co-winners of Coach of the Year.
Hall of Fame coach Don Shula was also honored with the Lamar Hunt Award for his impact on the NFL.
The NFL 101 award is the latest in a string of honors for Peterson, who was named the NFL’s MVP and Offensive Player of the Year last month. On Friday, Peterson was named the NFL’s top player by the Maxwell Football Club.
Nine months after tearing the the ACL and MCL in his left knee, Peterson started the season for the Vikings in September and never looked back.
Peterson finished the season Dec. 30 with 2,097 rushing yards, nine shy of Eric Dickerson’s all-time record.
