Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, with an NFL-leading 1,600 yards on the season, has been named the NFC offensive player of the week.
Peterson was instrumental in getting the Vikings off to a quick start in Sunday’s 21-14 win over the Bears at Mall of America field, rushing for a franchise-record 104 yards in the first quarter, including two short touchdown runs.
For the day, Peterson piled up 154 yards to keep him on track for breaking the 2,000 yard mark with three games to go.
He’s also 505 yards short of the all-time record set by ex-Rams rusher Eric Dickerson.
Asked today in a radio interview if Dickerson should be nervous, Peterson said “I think so.”
