Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson wasn’t at practice Wednesday afternoon as the Vikings continue to prepare for their fourth preseason game.
Peterson was attending a settlement conference between the NFL and the NFL Players Association dealing with the running back’s suspension from last season.

According to the Star Tribune, the players union believes that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell ignored collective bargaining rules when it disciplined the former MVP last season.
Peterson missed the last 15 games of last season after he pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of reckless assault stemming from allegations of child abuse against the Vikings running back.
Peterson missed games while he was on the Commissioner’s Exempt List while his case was pending. He was then suspended by the NFL for the remainder of the season after pleading no contest.
Peterson filed an appeal with the league to be allowed to return before the end of the season, but lost before arbitrator Harold Henderson. The running back then appealed to the U.S. District Court and won, but then was just placed back on the exempt list until he was finally reinstated in April.
Peterson returned to Vikings practice in June after the team refused a request to trade him. The team then re-worked the 30-year-old running back’s contract giving him $20 million in guaranteed money.
Peterson has not played in the preseason, and isn’t expected to until the team opens the regular season on Sept. 14 in San Francisco.
