A couple of the Minnesota Vikings biggest playmakers were still missing from Monday afternoon’s practice at Vikings Training Camp in Mankato.
Neither running back Adrian Peterson nor wide receiver/kick returner Cordarrelle Patterson practiced on Monday.
According to ESPN’s Ben Goessling, Peterson didn’t have his helmet when the Vikings returned to practice outdoors Monday afternoon. While AP did take part in the Vikings’ walk-through Monday morning, Goessling notes the three-time rushing champion is still nursing a slight hamstring strain.
Peterson also sat out practices on both Saturday and Sunday.
Following the team’s workout on Saturday, Vikings coach Mike Zimmer told reporters they’re just being cautious with him.
Coach Zimmer says the #Vikings are just being careful with @AdrianPeterson.

“The week before (camp), he was working out (and) pulled his hammy a little bit,” said Zimmer. “He can do things, he just can’t turn it all the way loose. We’re just being careful with him.”
Patterson shoulder injury not serious
While Peterson participated in the morning walk through, Patterson did not. Though the injury to his shoulder is also not thought to be serious.
Adrian Peterson is doing football stuff during today's walkthrough. Cordarrelle Patterson is not. #Vikings

Patterson’s non-participation in practice Monday wasn’t a big surprise. Zimmer told reporters that the fourth-year wide receiver would be out for a couple of days.
Patterson injured his shoulder while making an acrobatic catch on a deep ball from Shaun Hill along the Vikings sideline on the first day of camp.
