Wolves guard Anthony Edwards continues to rise among the ranks of NBA players and as his star grows so do the benefits, the latest being a signature shoe line. Adidas is set to debut the AE 1 this year, with Dec. 16 being the target date.
In an interview with Nice Kicks, Edwards has his eyes on one particular NBA star wearing his shoes, his favorite player Kevin Durant.
“KD. He’s with Nike. I want to see him put on these one time… in the game,” said Edwards.
Despite counting Edwards as a fan, Durant won’t be donning the Adidas sneakers. “Won’t EVER see me put a big toe in them Mfers,” Durant tweeted Friday morning.

Durant, while hopping from team-to-team throughout his career, has remained steadfast in his loyalty to Nike, with whom he originally signed with out of college in 2007. Nike signed Durant to a lifetime contract earlier this year, becoming just the third player ever to sign such a deal.
Adidas’ official twitter account, with 4.3 million followers, did not take kindly to Durant’s snub, responding with a since deleted tweet saying: “U dusty bouta retire soon anyway.”
This was swiftly edited however, with the German shoe brand’s new response now reading: “Meant to send that from the burner account…” – which is itself a joke at past claims that Durant used a social media burner account.
The internet never misses the chance to screenshot, in any case:
