Stefon Diggs returned to practice Thursday after missing Tuesday and Wednesday with an illness, but while Diggs’ status is not in question, Adam Thielen’s is.
Thielen appeared on Wednesday’s injury report as limited with an ankle issue, and NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported Thursday that Thielen “needed stitches for a bad cut on his ankle suffered in practice Wednesday.
“The initial prognosis was encouraging for his chances of playing Saturday against the #49ers, but they’re still gathering information and will proceed with caution,” Peliserro wrote in a tweet.
Officially, the Vikings have listed Thielen as questionable for the game.

“Yeah, you know how it is, just got a little tangled up in practice,” Thielen said on Good Morning Football. “I’m going to do whatever it takes, you know it’s playoffs. I’m going to do whatever it takes to be out there on Saturday with my teammates and try to help this team win.”
Thielen was mostly a non-factor Weeks 8-17 after suffering a hamstring injury in Week 7 against the Lions. But he broke out in last week’s win over the Saints, racking up 129 yards, including the 43-yard catch that set up Kyle Rudolph’s game-winning touchdown in overtime.
Safety Jayron Kearse is doubtful with a toe issue and cornerback Mackensie Alexander is out after undergoing minor surgery on his knee.
