The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed free-agent forward Lazar Hayward to replace Josh Howard on the roster, Fox Sports North reports. The Wolves first acquired Hayward from Washington in the first round of the 2010 NBA Draft and traded him to Oklahoma City last December.
Hayward has averaged 2.9 points in 8.2 minutes over two seasons, according to a new release.
The Timberwolves released Josh Howard earlier this month after he torn his ACL during a win over New Orleans. Second year guard Malcolm Lee is also out indefinitely with a knee injury and Brandon Roy is exploring treatment options for his troubled knees.
