How much damage is first-round pick Laquon Treadwell going to do in his first NFL season? If you ask NFL Network’s Charlie Casserly, the answer is – a lot.
Casserly is predicting a 1,000-yard season for Treadwell.
“I think this guy was the best receiver in this year’s draft. I thought he had good hands, I though he ran very good routes, I thought he had better separation than his timed speed.
You’ve got Adrian Peterson running the ball. You’ve got Stefon Diggs on the other side who’s quick and fast – and you’re gonna have to cover him; so I think this guy’s going to have a lot of coverage one-on-one. I think his size and separation ability are going to get there – Norv Turner, if he gets a guy in the first round he’s going to feed him the ball.”
Is 1,000 yards a fair expectation? Not quite, according to ESPN’s Ben Goessling.
“I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility that Treadwell catches 60 to 65 passes for 750 to 800 yards and five or six touchdowns,” Goessling wrote.
Rookie receivers have topped 1,000 yards just 17 times in NFL history. Oakland’s Amari Cooper became the 17th last season. Here’s the first 16 to do it, including Randy Moss in 1998 with 1,313 yards and a league-leading 17 touchdowns.
