The Vikings are still licking their wounds following Sunday’s painful loss at Buffalo.
The Bills put together a 15-play, 80-yard drive that ended when Kyle Orton found Sammy Watkins on a two-yard touchdown pass with one second remaining to steal a 17-16 victory from the Vikings.
Vikings coach Mike Zimmer told reporters he was frustrated because they didn’t do the “crucial things at the end to win.”
Zimmer said in hindsight, he should have called a timeout before a key 4th-and-20 on the drive that led up to the touchdown.

Seconds later Orton found his tight end Scott Chandler just beyond the outstretched fingertips of Chad Greenway for the first down, which allowed the drive to continue.

Greenway also held him self accountable for the play, according to ESPN’s Ben Goessling.
“You look back – I’ve watched the tape a couple of times now – and you wish you could change something, but it’s hard to stop the clock when a team’s driving on you in (a) two-minute (drill). A timeout, that’s not my decision. All I remember is looking back and seeing that Captain was real deep, from trying to get back from the last snap, and we weren’t lined up. I was trying to give them the call, and the ball was on top of us. I got to a good spot, but you’ve got to make the play in that situation. My hand was right in the pocket. The ball just didn’t come out.”
Offensive Line Injuries
The Vikings offensive line has had its share of issues recently, but now they are adding some insult as two starters left the game early because of injuries and neither returned.

Zimmer wasn’t sure of the status of either Sullivan or Ducasse for Sunday’s game at Tampa Bay.
