Former Timberwolves guard Zach LaVine is getting a big pay day from Adidas.
According to ESPN’s Nick DePaula, LaVine agreed to a four-year endorsement deal worth as much as $35 million with the shoe giant.
LaVine, just 22, had previously been with Nike, but DePaula notes they had a “match clause” for an offer sheet from a competing brand. After reviewing the offer, Nike decided to waive their clause.
“Adidas convinced me that I have a chance to legitimately become a face of the brand,” LaVine said to ESPN.
Adidas also features NBA stars James Harden, Damian Lillard and Kristaps Porzingis.
The former first-round pick was traded from Minnesota to Chicago last summer, but has yet to appear in a game for the Bulls as he recovers from ACL surgery.
Once healthy, the 2017-18 season will be LaVine’s fourth in the NBA. Fans know LaVine for his ferocious dunks, as he’s a two-time winner of the NBA’s Slam Dunk Contest.
