At this time of year, many kids run through thousands of possibilities to decide what they want to be for Halloween. While many kids will probably decide to be a football or basketball player, few decide to be a head coach.
But with Gopher fever beginning to sweep the state, head coach P.J. Fleck has begun to win over the Minnesota fan base which has resulted in everybody from Rochester to Roseau grabbing an oar and jumping on the “Row the Boat” bandwagon.
This included one young fan who showed up to Saturday’s game against Maryland in full Fleck attire, including a shaved head, headset and play-calling sheet. Flanked by another boy who dressed up as a Gopher player, the duo got to roam the sidelines before the game and even got to meet Fleck prior to kickoff.

Almost one year ago, the Gopher football program was in a rough state as it got done allowing 646 total yards in a loss to lowly Illinois. Since then, the Gophers have won 11 of their past 12 games including a 10-game winning streak that is the program’s longest since 1941.
As a result, fans are now dressing up as the head coach they wanted to get rid of and the Gophers are making a push to claim their first Big Ten West division title in program history.
