The Minnesota Timberwolves completed a season sweep of the Western Conference-leading Utah Jazz on Monday night with a 105-104 victory at Target Center.
After the Wolves pulled off a stunning victory on Saturday night, the Jazz was out for revenge. Mike Conley flirted with a triple-double with 26 points, nine rebounds and seven assists as Utah built a lead that swelled to 18 points.
But the Wolves have become champions of the comeback in recent weeks and Monday’s was fueled by D’Angelo Russell.
Russell poured in a game-high 27 points on the night while Karl-Anthony Towns added 21 points and 11 rebounds to help the Wolves take a 103-100 lead late in the game.
The Wolves decided to foul Conley with 12.3 seconds remaining and the veteran sank the first free throw before missing the second. Naz Reid pulled down the board but stepped out of bounds to give the ball back to Utah.
The Jazz made Minnesota pay with a 3-pointer from Conley with 6.4 seconds remaining to take a 104-103 lead. After a timeout, the Wolves took advantage of a defensive lapse to find Russell for a layup to go up 105-104 with 4.2 seconds remaining.

On the final possession, the Jazz tried to go back to Conley but Jaden McDaniels came away with the strip and helped the Wolves win back-to-back games for the first time since their first two games of the season.

The Timberwolves (17-44) will look to win their third straight game when they travel to face the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night.
