Ricky Rubio’s first career triple-double helped the Timberwolves surprise the San Antonio Spurs, 107-83 Tuesday night at Target Center.
Rubio finished with 21 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists. He completed the trifecta with more than 8-minutes left in the fourth quarter.
J.J. Barea and Alexey Shved were sharpshooters off the bench. They combined for 33 points and 8 three-pointers. Minnesota is statistically the worst three-point shooting team in the NBA, but connected on 12-20 threes in the game.
The Spurs were without two of their big three stars — Tony Park and Tim Duncan — who were out with injuries.
