The Timberwolves earned victory No. 1,001 for coach Rick Adelman Saturday night with a 105-93 win over the Phoenix Suns at Target Center, The Associated Press reports.
Ricky Rubio led the Wolves with a career-high 24 points, 10 assists and five steals, while J.J. Barea scored 16 points and Derrick Williams added 15.
With the win, the Wolves improved to 30-50. It marks the first time the Wolves have notched 30 wins in a season without Kevin Garnett on the team.
The team also earned victory No. 20 at home this season, the most since 2006-2007.
Adelman was recognized by his team in a pregame ceremony that honored his 1,000 victories as a coach. The coach earned the landmark victory last Saturday at Target Center against the Detroit Pistons.
The ceremony included a short video about Adelman’s accomplishments that included appearances by coach Pat Riley, and players Shane Battier and Kevin Martin.
Team owner Glen Taylor also presented Adelman with a framed net from the night of his 1,000th victory.
NBA.com suggested in a report last week that it’s a real possibility that Adelman may retire at the end of the season.
The Wolves stay at home to take on the Utah Jazz Monday night.
