The Timberwolves made a roster move to add some depth in the post.
The Wolves announced Thursday they have claimed center Justin Hamilton off waivers from New Orleans. To make room for Hamilton, the Wolves released forward Glenn Robinson III, whom they drafted in the second round this year.
Hamilton, 24, is in his second season in the NBA out of Louisiana State University. The Wolves will be his third team this season. Hamilton played in 24 games including five starts with the Miami Heat, then was traded to New Orleans on Feb. 19, but hadn’t played for the Pelicans since the trade.
Hamilton is averaging 2.8 points and 2.0 rebounds on the season and was averaging 12 minutes per game.
The Associated Press’ Jon Krawczynski says the Wolves have been interested in Hamilton for awhile.

Minnesota’s only centers on the roster were Nikola Pekovic, who has been slowed by his troublesome ankle recently and Gorgui Dieng. At the same time the Wolves have had an excess of forwards and wings on the roster and it looks like Robinson was the odd man out.
Minnesota had been intrigued with GRIII since drafting him, but he had been unable to crack the rotation averaging just 4.3 minutes per game in 25 games this season.
