With Kevin Love out of the Timberwolves lineup for several weeks with a broken hand, it’s now — or perhaps never — for Derrick Williams. He’s expected to get a lot of playing time with Love out. In the past six contests, the former overall No. 2 pick has averaged about 10 points a game.
As coach Rick Adelman told the Star Tribune over the weekend, Williams “better be” prepared to bear more of a burden.
Fox Sports North’s Joan Niesen writes that no trade in imminent for the Wolves, and no one “will be able to fill Love’s void better than Williams.”
So look for Williams to get more playing time as soon as tonight when Minnesota hosts Atlanta at Target Center, as the Wolves look to snap an 11-game losing streak to the Hawks.
