The Timberwolves have been without Zach LaVine for the past two games who’s dealing with a hip injury. With LaVine out, Tom Thibodeau has turned to Brandon Rush to start at shooting guard and so far, so good.
In the past two games in which the Wolves defeated the Rockets and Thunder, Rush has played over 36 minutes while hitting 10 3-pointers.
Thibodeau even rode Rush for 40 minutes on Friday night. Before his last two games Rush was inactive for 14 of the past 18 games.
The 31-year-old veteran signed with Minnesota after two seasons with the Golden State Warriors where he won an NBA Championship.
His teammate Ricky Rubio praised Rush after the game on Friday night for knowing what it takes to win.
Throughout his nine-year career, Rush has been a sniper from behind the arc hitting 43 percent of his 3-pointers.
When the Timberwolves got off a bad start this season, it was rumored that Thibodeau could trade one of their young players for an established veteran.
Well with Rush coming off two NBA Finals appearances, he may already have that kind of player on his bench.
