It’s NFL Draft week and the big question is what the Vikings will do with running back Adrian Peterson.
Will Peterson be traded or will there finally be a resolution that confirms Peterson will remain in Minnesota in 2015?
Charles Robinson, an investigative reporter for Yahoo Sports, spoke with “six high-level NFL sources” and came to these conclusions regarding Peterson’s current status.
- Dallas Cowboys have not gotten involved in trade talks
- Arizona Cardinals don’t want to give up their first-round pick
- Buccaneers, Jaguars and Falcons are unlikely trade partners
- Vikings general manager Rick Spielman is in charge of Peterson’s future
- If Peterson isn’t traded by Saturday morning he’ll remain a Viking
Perhaps the most important point made by Robinson is that it will take a lot to convince Spielman to trade Peterson, largely in part because Peterson makes the Vikings a lot better – and he could make second-year quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, the future of the franchise, a lot better, too.
As Robinson put it, Spielman’s “feet are in cement” and it will take a “sledgehammer” of an offer to get him to trade Peterson.
Offering a similar report is NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, who says the Vikings continue to say, both publicly and privately, that Peterson will play for the Vikings or no one next season.

Rapoport added that if one team could still tempt Spielman it would be Arizona, but only if they don’t land a running back they desire in the first round.
