Nino Niederreiter, if he’s awake yet, probably feels pretty good.
The 21-year-old Swiss scored the overtime series-winner in game seven Wednesday night, as the Wild officially bury the Avalanche and move on to the Western Conference Semifinals against the Chicago Blackhawks.
It was the first road win for a team in this playoff series. In the 17 previous game seven matchups, the team who scored first had eventually won (the Avs went up 1-0 early Wednesday). And as Keith Leventhal noted on Twitter, the last team to win a game seven without ever leading in the game … was the Wild, in 2003, in Colorado.
There was plenty of excitement from Wild fans.
