The Minnesota Wild continues to make moves ahead of the NHL Draft, trading Ryan Donato to the San Jose Sharks with Devan Dubnyk possibly the next to be on the move.
Donato is headed to California with the Wild receiving a 3rd round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft in return.
The Wild had acquired Donato in the 2018 trade with the Boston Bruins that sent Charlie Coyle to Massachusetts.
What’s more, goalie Devan Dubnyk could also be on his way west, with The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun reporting that San Jose are also interested in him, though any deal struck would be separate from the Donato deal.
Wild and Sharks are expected to announce a Ryan Donato trade within the hour; San Jose getting Donato for a third-round pick in '21.
Both teams also still working on a separate Devan Dubnyk deal which if completed would be announced later today.— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) October 5, 2020
Wild GM Bill Guerin has embarked on an overhaul ahead of the new NHL season, allowing veterans Eric Staal and Mikko Koivu to leave, while picking up Marcus Johansson and Nick Bjugstad.
The Wild have the 9th pick of Tuesday’s draft, the first time since 2012 it’s landed a Top 10 pick.
