Former first-round pick by the Minnesota Wild Alex Tuch scored a slick breakaway goal at the Taverse City Prospect Tournament in Michigan on Saturday.
Tuch took advantage of a loose puck in his defensive zone and went full speed ahead the other way for the goal. He told the Pioneer Press earlier this week that he wants to be the “best” player at the tournament.
The 20-year-old was the 18th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft and has spent the last two years at Boston College. Back in May, Tuch announced he was leaving the NCAA and was ready for the NHL.
Although it’s premature whether he’ll make the Wild roster or open the season in the AHL, there will be a lot of eyes on Tuch at training camp later this month.
Earlier this summer Tuch said he plans to challenge for a roster spot.
