The Minnesota Wild are shuffling their roster the day before they return to the ice, in Edmonton, following the Olympic break.
FOX Sports Net reports the Wild have placed defenseman Marco Scandella and forward Jason Zucker on injured reserve and have recalled goaltender John Curry and forward Stephane Veilleux from Iowa of the American Hockey League.
FSN says the Wild need the depth with the status of goaltender Niklas Backstrom, center Mikko Koivu and Scandella unknown heading into Thursday.
Curry is 7-5-2 in games for the Iowa Wild in the AHL. He has a 2.08 goals-against average and a .935 save percentage. Veilleux has scored one goal in 25 games this season for Minnesota, he has four goals and seven assists with the Iowa Wild, according to KSTP.
Last week, the Wild signed Curry to a two-way NHL contract. He had been playing for both Iowa of the AHL and Orlando of the East Coast Hockey League.
Curry would serve as the backup to goaltender Darcy Kuemper if Backstrom isn’t ready.
Scandella has practiced this week after suffering a sprained left knee during a game against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Feb. 4. Zucker is dealing with a lower-body injury.
