Minnesota Wild owner Craig Leipold remains confident that his team will bring a Stanley Cup championship to the State of Hockey.
“It may not be this year. It may not be next year,” Leipold said, according to the Pioneer Press. “But the beautiful thing is we have a window now that’s not going to close in two or three years. We’ve got a window that’s going to be opened up for five, six or seven years.”
Leipold noted how difficult it is for teams to make the playoffs in a lockout-shortened season. “You win one night, you’re in third place. You lose, you’re in eighth place.”
He’s right. The Wild was in third place entering Tuesday’s game against the Ducks. After losing they fell all the way to eighth place. They can jump back up in the standings with a win over Colorado on Thursday.
