Kyle Brodziak’s career in Minnesota is over after he signed a one-year, $900,000 contract with the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night.
Michael Russo of the Star Tribune says it’s not shocking that Brodziak signed a lower pay deal because rosters in the NHL are stacked with quality third-line centers. Had he agreed to terms with a team on the first day of free agency – Wednesday – he potentially could have received a better contract, Russo says.
Kyle Brodziak 7th in #mnwild history in games, 8th in points, was Chuck Fletcher's first player trade as GM in 2009 #stlblues

The same issue may effect Chris Stewart, who at first appeared unlikely to re-sign with the Wild. It now appears there is a chance he could return for Minnesota, Russo says.
Brodziak, who scored 9 goals and had 11 assists in 73 games last season, definitely earned respect as a hard-nosed player during his six years with the Wild.
It was inevitable, but tough to see a guy leave who has been a big part of the @mnwild for the last 6yrs. Good luck to Kyle Brodziak in STL!

Kyle Brodziak signs with the Blues. One of the most under-appreciated athletes in this town. He's a nice addition for St.Louis.

Fletcher speaking very highly of Kyle Brodziak. He clearly will miss him. Says [trade for Brodziak] "was one of the best I ever made".
