The Minnesota Wild outlasted the New Jersey Devils at the Xcel Energy Center last night, and skated away with a 4-2 win. The first five goals of the game came in the first period before Kyle Brodziak put the game on ice in the third period.
Dany Heatley put the Wild on the board with a wrist-shot, tying the game at one. Minnesota would score twice more within four minutes (Brodziak, Wellman) to take a 3-1 lead. The Devils scored a few minutes later to cut the lead to one, but failed to come closer than 3-2.
Niklas Backstrom started the game in goal before being replaced by Josh Harding to start the second period.
Mike Yeo said Backstrom left the game with a “little bit of a lower body issue”, but the injury isn’t considered serious.
