It wasn’t a thing of beauty, but the Wild (9-11-4) escaped New York with one point after losing 3-2 to the Rangers in overtime Monday night.
Despite the loss, the Wild extended their points streak to six games, having gone 3-0-3 in their last six games. Minnesota hasn’t suffered a regulation loss since Nov. 12.
After ex-Gopher Brady Skjei and Zach Parise traded goals in the first two periods, Ryan Donato put the Wild up 2-1 with just his second goal of the season at the 10-minute mark of the third period, but that lead erased when Chris Kreider netted the tying goal on a power play with just over three minutes left in the third period.
In overtime, it was Tony DeAngelo’s seventh goal of the season that proved to be the game-winner.
Note 1: It was a big night for Wild winger Mats Zuccarello, who was playing his first game at Madison Square Garden as an opponent. Zuccarello signed with the Wild as a free agent last summer after spending the first nine years – 509 games – of his career with the Rangers.

Note 2: The Wild are 5-2-1 since starting the season 4-9-1.
