Kirill Kaprizov’s goal with just over five minutes left in the third period capped a furious comeback for the Minnesota Wild, but it was Brady Schenn scoring the winning goal just 56 seconds into overtime, giving the Blues a 6-5 victory in a crucial Central Division matchup.

Minnesota trailed 4-1 after two periods and then stormed back in the third period with a flurry of goals. Ryan Hartman’s second goal of the game cut the deficit to 4-2 just over three minutes into the third period, and they cut it to one on Frederick Gaudreau’s goal just 92 seconds later.
After Pavel Buchnevich scored to put the Blues up 5-3, Marcus Foligno buried a rebound on a Wild power play to make it a 5-4 game with exactly 6 minutes left in regulation. Kaprizov’s 43rd goal of the season tied the score 5-5 with 5:02 left in the third.
Kaprizov’s 43 goals are the most in a single season in Wild franchise history, breaking the mark (42) set by Eric Staal in 2017-18 and Marian Gaborik in 2007-08.
The win for the Blues was huge because it gives them 100 points, while Minnesota has 99 points with a game in hand on the Blues. With Colorado locked in to win the Central Division, the Blues and Wild are battling for second place and home-ice advantage in a likely first-round playoff series between the two.
