For the first time since early in the season the Minnesota Wild have lost back-to-back games. The Wild fell to Tampa Bay 4-1 Thursday night in Tampa Bay.
It’s the second straight loss for the Wild, who also lost to St. Louis Tuesday night. Marco Scandella scored Minnesota’s only goal Thursday.
Tampa Bay goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 24 of the 25 shots he faced, including a couple of awesome saves like this one in the first period.
The Wild had not last back-to-back games since they dropped three straight to St. Louis, Vancouver and Calgary between Nov. 26 and Dec. 2. It’s also the first time the Wild have lost consecutive games in regulation since Nov. 1 and Nov. 5.
More troubling for the Wild is that Minnesota has lost three of their last four, and they don’t seem to have the same fire they did during most of February.
At the conclusion of the game, Minnesota held a slim one point lead over the Blackhawks for the top spot in the Western Conference.
The Wild are back on the ice Friday night at Florida.
