The Canadian National basketball team fell short of qualifying for the Olympics on Friday night, they fell to Venezuela 79-78 in the FIBA Americas games.
Friday night wasn’t Andrew Wiggins’ best night, the young Wolves star finished just 4-of-11 from the floor for nine points. Wiggins didn’t score the entire second half and he also turned it over four times.
But he was one of the reasons Canada was in the game to begin with. Wiggins averaged 15.5 points and 4.9 rebounds per game during the tournament for the Canadians.
He wasn’t the only Wolves player playing in the game. Anthony Bennett didn’t score on 0-of-2 shooting, but he did grab five boards in the game.
It wasn’t to be though as Venezuela was led by Windi Graterol led the way with 20 points, on 7-of-11 shooting. He was also 3-of-5 from behind the arc.
Kelly Olynyk led Canada in the loss. He had a double-double including a game high 34 points and 13 rebounds.
Canada losses a heart breaker to Venezuela. Canada will play in he qualifying tournament next year. #WeAreTeamCanada
