Andrew Wiggins can check off another item on his to-do list after being unanimously voted onto the NBA All-Rookie First Team, the league announced Monday.
Wiggins received 130 of 130 first-place votes, making him the only unanimous selection of the 2014-15 rookie class.
Joining Wiggins on the first team are: Nikola Mirotic, Chicago Bulls; Nerlens Noel, Philadelphia 76ers; Elfrid Payton, Orlando Magic; Jordan Clarkson, Los Angeles Lakers.
Timberwolves guard Zach LaVine was voted onto the All-Rookie Second Team.
Eight Wolves’ rookies have previously been named to the first team, according to the Pioneer Press. They are: Ricky Rubio, Randy Foye, Wally Szczerbiak, Stephon Marbury, Isaiah Rider, Christian Laettner and Pooh Richardson.
If one were to get a sampling of what Wiggins’ hypothetical checklist includes, it might look like:
- Have a better season than Kevin Love. Check.
- Put Rudy Gobert on a poster. Check.
- Introduce Omar Asik to the wrong side of a rim-rocking slam. Check.
- Juke LeBron James out of his shoes. Check.
- Win the Rookie of the Year Award. Check.
- Be named to the All-Rookie First Team. Check.
Wiggins was a stud as a rookie and he seemed to improve his all-around game progressively as the season continue – and he played and started all 82 games.
He led all rookies in scoring (16.9 per game) and minutes (36.2 per game) and was top 10 among rookies in rebounds (4.6 per game) and steals (1.05 per game).
