As the Minnesota Twins open up a series with the Atlanta Braves Tuesday night at Target Field, both clubs are in the middle of disappointing seasons.
In fact, they have the two worst records in baseball, much like 1990 when both clubs finished the season at the bottom of their respective divisions.
But the very next year, 25 years ago, the clubs faced off in the thrilling 1991 World Series.

While few people have been as popular to Twins fans as Kirby Puckett, the outfielder picked a clutch time for the biggest moment of his career.
Puckett stole the show in Game 6, with a tremendous catch, and a walk-off home run in the 11th inning to force a Game 7.

Gene Larkin’s series clincher
The bases were loaded with one out, in the bottom of the 10th inning when Gene Larkin walked to the plate in a situation little boys dream about.
And he delivered.
So as the Twins and Braves meet this week in the middle of a disappointing season, remember back to 1991 and look forward to how quickly things can change.
