The Vikings are in the playoffs, and they beat the Green Bay Packers to get there. You could say that 1,000 times and still not wipe that grin off your face. Yes, you were impressed. But how about the folks across America who make up the various NFL Rankings?
Here’s a look, heading into Week 18, a week reserved for the best 12 teams only. (No Bears or Lions allowed.)
ESPN has Minnesota at No. 12, unchanged from last week. Not exactly impressed in Bristol, Conn., are we?
Fox Sportshas the Vikings down two spots at No. 12 this week. Author Brian Billick doesn’t pull any punches, writing that the Purple “are the worst team in the playoffs and will get exposed by the Packers at Lambeau Field.”
SB Nation has Minnesota in the 10-spot, up from No. 11 in Week 17. They wisely compare Adrian Peterson to Jim Brown.
The Business Insider is even kinder, with the Vikings at No. 8 overall, and up three spots from last week. But they warn “it’s all about Christian Ponder” this Saturday.
The New York Daily News has Minnesota at No. 7, up three notches from Week 17. The Vikings, they declare, are “red hot” but can they beat the Cheeseheads twice in a week?
