If not for the Timberwolves, Ray Allen would be a nobody.
That’s not true. But the Timberwolves did draft him fifth overall in the 1996 NBA Draft before trading him to the Milwaukee Bucks for the draft rights to Stephon Marbury. Everybody won, right? No. The Wolves didn’t win. China won. They have a Marbury statue now. The Bucks won. They got to enjoy one of the greatest shooters in NBA history.
Allen is now retired from the NBA and spending time on the golf course, where he’s an impressive +0.8 handicap, according to Golf Digest. And his golf bag pays tribute to all of his former teams: the Bucks, Supersonics, Heat, Celtics and Timberw… wait. Wait a second. That’s the old school Timberwolves logo, right?
No. No it’s not.

Admittedly, we only decided to write this story after getting excited that Allen remembered the Wolves on his golf bag. Sadly, it’s his college team’s mascot – and we’re stupid for failing to notice the difference.
