Joe Mauer made a sensational diving play to save an extra-base hit in the middle of last night’s Twins-Orioles game, but Mauer’s web gem paled in comparison to the kid-saving grab the Twins’ ballboy made.
It was the ninth inning and Kevin Jepsen was pitching to Baltimore’s Joey Rickard, who smoked a liner into foul territory. The ball was locked in on a kid sitting in the front row down the first baseline before the ballboy lunged over the railing to make a fully-extended catch.
The ball might not have hit the kid, but the play was as fine as they come nonetheless.
