Royce Lewis spoke Monday and didn’t sound like the kind of guy who was optimistic about his hamstring being healthy enough to play against the Blue Jays in the playoffs. Twenty-four hours later he was batting third as the designated hitter and in his first at-bat he smoked a fastball into the seats for a two-run homer.

“Luckily I got a fastball middle-in for me to drive,” Lewis said seconds after he homered, talking to the ESPN sideline reporter. “Just look for something that I could drive.”
Lewis hadn’t played since straining his hamstring on Sept. 19. He’s limited to DH duties but that’s obviously not a problem because he’s a monster at the plate.
But wait, it gets better. Here’s Royce Lewis’ second at-bat in the playoffs.
