If you didn’t see the Wild’s 3-2 overtime loss in Detroit on Sunday you missed a much better overall game from the Wild. It was a refreshing turnaround after Saturday’s home loss to Vancouver, which head coach Bruce Boudreau called “embarrassing.”
Still, the Wild lost and Detroit’s game-winning goal in overtime came immediately after a 2-on-1 break failed to click.
Erik Haula and Zach Parise had the 2-on-1 but Haula’s shot was saved by Jimmy Howard, and it led to a breakaway goal by Andreas Athanasiou.
Minnesota has seven games to go and then they’ll likely host Nashville or St. Louis in the first round of the playoffs.
