It wasn’t a quarterback, but the Minnesota Vikings still made an exciting pick in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft when they took wide receiver Jordan Addison.
There were cheers at the Park Tavern in St. Louis Park as the pick was announced at the Skor North NFL Draft Party.

The 23rd pick arrived with any number of options available to the Vikings, with quarterbacks Will Levis and Hendon Hooker still on the board, along with cornerback Joey Porter Jr., and defensive back Brian Branch.
Instead the Vikings addressed an area of immediate need, taking Addison to fill the void left by Adam Thielen’s departure and provide another receiving weapon to play alongside Justin Jefferson for Kirk Cousins.
Addison was considered by analysts to be the last top-quality wide receiver left on the board after a run on receivers that saw Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Quentin Johnston, and Zay Flowers go in the picks immediately preceding the Vikings to the Seahawks, Chargers, and Ravens respectively.
