Thursday was a sad day as the State of Hockey, along with the rest of the hockey world, mourned the loss of longtime Minnesota North Star J.P. Parise.
Parise passed away Wednesday night after a nearly one-year fight against Stage 4 lung cancer. He was a fan favorite as a player and he offered his talented bloodline to his son, Zach Parise, who is undoubtedly the most popular player for the Minnesota Wild. Zach didn’t play in Minnesota’s hard-fought loss to Chicago Thursday night.

Not many people seemingly have all the right things to say, but JP Parise was one of them. He was infinitely wise as he was kind. I will…

Mentorship and kindness. J.P. Parise provided that for me in my early years as a reporter. Lessons I've never forgotten. He will be missed
