Brian Dozier hadn’t played since rolling his left ankle last Friday. Miguel Sano missed Tuesday’s game because of a suspension and didn’t play Wednesday because of a rainout.
Neither player missed a beat in their return to the lineup.
Dozier rocked a solo homer halfway up the bleachers in left in the second inning and Sano followed two batters later with an opposite-field shot over into the Twins bullpen in right field.
Sano’s homer comes on his 24th birthday.
Derek Holland was an error by Jose Abreu away from a scoreless first inning but instead got blasted for four runs when the Twins took advantage of the extra out with an RBI single by Joe Mauer and a 3-run homer from Eduardo Escobar.
